Jentel Artist Residency this Spring

- Hello again!
Next weekend I’ll be heading to Wyoming for an artist residency at Jentel Arts to work on my new album. I have a lot of updates below, but first I’d like to share some writings I’ve been working on with the new album in mind- All will be remixed, altered, discarded, etc. but sharing for now…
If you’d like to support / preorder the record, go here. I’ll stick the package levels on the bottom of this post. - I can barely see for all the light, the sun hot and dominant blinds me and seems to be everywhere i look. I travel quickly but then get tired and slow down. I feel compelled, propelled in a certain direction, but not sure if I am consistent in my navigation. I could go anywhere and I am nervous, not knowing for sure where I am or where I’ll end up. It’s all completely open to me. There really are no limits. I might be lost. It really makes no difference, but it is hot and I can’t do this forever. I can’t just keep going. I have been looking for others, anyone, but have no expectation to find anything, anybody. Sleep has been the last thing on my mind for what could be, what should be 100 miles now. But I’m afraid it is creeping up on me little by little and I’m going to have to stop eventually and rest somewhere. I can’t really find a place that looks right though. I keep passing all the stops. I’m waiting for a sign, some kind of inescapable notion that will let me know I’ve found the place where I can close my eyes for just a little while. I’m thinking it’s probably the next one. Then, if it’s not the next three, then I just need to make it the fourth. I’ll have to settle. I see a clump of trees with loud mechanical sounds, then another with leaves too sparse, then a third too dense and dark, and then the fourth is not much better but I told myself I would settle and work my way down between branches to find a cool clear lake.
- Hailing down rain and silt
No buttress, no butt rest
Collapse not withholding
Waiting on you in the Pit
Not outside of it
Below the pit and within it
Waiting on you who deserve it
The shards falling down
And around
They embrace and fall
I’m dying to know when you’ll get here
Dumb on the floor
Mute in the Pit
Below it and within it
Climbing burning steel
Just to jump in again
Waiting on you in a blur
In a fury lowering gaze
In the haze unforgiving
(Giving up ghosts where the dead do all the living) - I was pulling the other way
When you grinded – ground?
Glass bottled up – then blowing in flowered and dissolved
Planing around your feet
Flat on your mesa – poised to balance
Against masons equal force
The Real points its pricks like stars
The False glazes over surface perforation
I was boiling in a bowl or dish
Steaming up the ceiling’s broken glass
Unable to hold persistence of glimmered vision
Unable to kick the pricks that lash and enter in - A fish died right there
In salmon orange
Oops for a long time
Oops look at that
A bird floating by in
Blue and icey gray
Looks at me, points downstream
Too much water I can sink
Not enough for me to stay
Picking out dinner
Amongst the splinters
Letting it float, then dragging it back
Worm tries to wriggle
Moves just a little
Oops for a long time
Oops look at that
Rocks the crags pointing toward me
Pulling up to punctuate
Looks at me, points downstream
One leg attached
Rocks in a sack
