The Dead Do All the Living
Hailing down rain of silt, rafters are falling
Collapse not withholding, on the railing and failing
Waiting on you in the pit, not outside of it
Below the pit and looking down into it
Waiting on you, on you who deserve it
Shards falling down and around, they embrace and they fall
Ooh, Grasping glass in the hand
Eh, Gonna do what I can
Can’t feel my legs and I can’t feel the answer
Everything still, motionless the morning after
Here comes the chopper, second time today
Rescue or kill, I’m dying to know when you’ll get here
Dumb on the floor, and mute in the pit
Below it, but right within it
Climbing burning steel, just to jump in again
Waiting on you in a blur, in a fury / I lower my gaze
Lower my gaze in a haze, unforgiving
Giving up ghosts where the dead do all the living
The world has gone dark – the stones crush all feeling
Blood tastes of rust, and my head’s in the ceiling
If I had a rocket, some son of a bitch would die
Yet I don’t even know if I’m alive
